Disabled Self Catering Beach Holidays in Boscastle with Level Flat Drive, Lowered Bath and Ceiling Track Hoist

The small village port of Boscastle is one of Cornwall’s most unique and picturesque destinations. Its defining feature is its stunning natural harbour, which once made it one of the region’s busiest trading hubs. These days things are much more relaxed, with Boscastle a favourite location for those wanting to get away from the stress and strain of the big city.

Boscastle is enveloped by a landscape of stunning contrasts, from its high cliffs and rolling waves, to quiet wooded streams and lush, green fields. Unsurprisingly, the area has long been the inspiration for an assortment of artists and writers, most notably Thomas Hardy, who met his first wife, Emma, while working as an architect at the village’s St Juliot Church. Hardy subsequently made the region the setting of his novel A Pair of Blue Eyes, with its leading lady modelled after Emma.

Boscastle itself is the site of a number of interesting shops and attractions. Don't miss out on Boscastle Pottery, where you can observe the creation of “mochaware”. It’s made by pouring mocha tea onto wet pots and letting it run down the surface; the tea automatically spreads out in a multitude of directions, creating beautifully intricate tree-like patterns.

There’s also Bottreaux Castle, the remains of a motte-and-bailey fort from which the village takes its name, and just four miles to the south-west you’ll find the famous Tintagel Castle, long associated with the legendary King Arthur.
