ACCESSIBLE CANAL BOAT HOLIDAYS & DAY TRIPS
Canal Boat Holidays
Bruce Accessible Boats has a fleet of four purpose-built wide-beam canal boats managed by a professional engineer and a team of enthusiastic volunteers in order to keep costs as low as possible.
All four boats provide lots of space for wheelchair users. Ramps and lifts enable easy access to the decks and once in the saloon and sleeping areas you will find a fully fitted kitchen, accessible showers and toilets, and a range of beds and bunks.
One of our boats has an electrically-operated hospital bed.
You can learn to self-drive a boat for a week or more and explore the attractions of this famous canal.
If you have no experience of driving a widebeam canal boat we provide training so you feel confident on the water. Alternatively, families, care homes or community groups can hire a fully crewed boat for a day trip with groups of up to twelve.
Each boat has quality, fully accessible accommodation to meet your holiday needs.
Training
First class training delivers safe, and fun boating.
We offer online training, and courses afloat from competent crewing to full skipper are designed to provide trainees with the skills needed to enjoy a safe and relaxing holiday.
Whether you are a seasoned boater or taking on canal boating for the first time we will ensure you receive the training you need to ensure the boat is ready to go out and at least one of the crew has earned the title of skipper.
Canal Boat Day Trips
Day hires can accommodate up to twelve people, including children and carers.
Our day hire is fully crewed by our trained volunteers but you are always encouraged and supported to have a go at the locks and steering, great fun.
You have full use of the kitchen on board to prepare lunch which means you can either bring your own picnic or choose to prepare a hot meal.
