Disabled Holidays in Wales

Lighthouse in Wales

Blessed with breathtaking mountains, lush valleys, dramatic coastlines, hundreds of castles, and a rich heritage of poetry, song, literature and legends, Wales is a varied and beautiful part of Britain with loads to offer.

People come here for all types of holidays – traditional seaside breaks beside breathtaking beaches, escapes into the mountain wilds, invigorating walks, train journeys through spectacular landscapes, and action-packed outdoor adventures.

Wherever you go, the scenery is sure to be amazing, particularly in the country’s three sprawling national parks and five Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The coast is especially attractive and boasts 100 beaches, including 47 Blue Flag award-winners, many of which are accessible and provide ramped access, disabled toilets, and beach wheelchairs available for hire.

Accessible walks can be found along numerous sections of the Wales Coast Path, an 870-mile public right of way that lines the entirety of the Welsh sea border. As well as passing stunning beaches, the path shows off countless examples of the nation’s best woodlands, hills, coves and cliffs and also takes in numerous city waterfronts, writers’ retreats and historic castles.

Wales’s inland landscapes are no less spectacular. Snowdonia and the Brecon Beacons serve as fantastic walking territory and afford ample opportunities for all kinds of outdoor activities, from leisurely pursuits like bird watching, fishing and horse riding, to more active experiences such as paragliding, rafting and lake surfing.

If history’s more your thing, you’ll find no shortage of sites to visit. Wales is home to more than 600 hundred castles, not to mention a host of Neolithic and Bronze Age monuments, acclaimed museums and memorials to the country’s industrial past.
