Disabled Self Catering Countryside Holidays in Truro with Hearing Facilities

The small city of Truro offers an enticing mixture of culture, green spaces and retail therapy. Situated in the heart of western Cornwall, it’s dominated by its cathedral, whose Gothic spire rises 250 feet into the skyline. The surrounding area comprises an intricate network of meandering Georgian walkways, full of speciality shops and independent traders. You never know what you’ll find here: books, clothes, antiques, jewellery – there’s something new around every corner.

Truro has a long tradition as a market town, which it continues to preserve today. There is a large indoor market on Lemon Quay and occasional farmers’ markets close by. Additionally, the indoor Pannier Market is open year-round and is home to many stalls and small businesses. Truro is also popular for its eateries, with cafes, bistros, ice creameries and cocktail bars dotted across the city. Much of the city centre is also pedestrianised, making getting around simpler.

Notable attractions include the Royal Cornwall Museum, which houses exhibits detailing regional history and culture, from prehistoric times to the county’s industrial age. Highlights include a gallery of works by local artists and a colourful and extensive mineral collection.

A couple of streets away is Hall for Cornwall, a 1,000-seater auditorium and the county’s leading theatre and concert venue. It puts on all kinds of exciting shows to occupy your evenings, including West End musicals, opera, ballet and stand-up routines.

Truro is also noted for its quota of parks and open spaces, including Victoria Gardens, Boscawen Park and Bosvigo Gardens. These make for the perfect quiet spot away from the hustle and bustle of the busier shops, and they also host local musical acts during the summer.
