Disabled Holidays in Perranporth with Wheel in Shower, Wheelchair Access and Shower Chair

Set amidst the stunning scenery of Cornwall’s Atlantic coast, the little town of Perranporth is famous for having one of the county’s largest and most impressive beaches.

Situated right on its doorstep, Perran Beach (pictured) offers a vast expanse of golden sand, stretching for over two miles and backed by rolling dunes and spectacular cliffs. The beach is popular with all kinds of holidaymakers, from families to surfers, but its large size means you can always find a spot to enjoy on your own.

Perran is also blessed with its own natural pool, the outcrop of Chapel Rock, which juts fifty feet into the air at the southern end of the beach. The pool fills up with seawater when the tide’s in, before being warmed by the sun during the day. Perran also benefits from having great disabled access, with motorised beach wheelchairs available to hire from Perranporth Gardens for a small fee.

Perranporth’s surrounding scenery is just as impressive. The town sits right next to the St Agnes Heritage Coast, a beautiful sweep of wild heathland, characterised by colourful splashes of wildflowers and poignant relics of the area’s mining past.

You can learn more about the region’s compelling history at Perranporth’s Perranzabuloe Museum. Free to enter, the museum features costume displays, a replica of a traditional Cornish kitchen and an exhibition of early surfboards. It also includes a collection relating to the author of the Poldark historical novels, Winston Graham, who lived in Perranporth and used the local landscape as the backdrop for his tales.

If you fancy a trip out, you’ll find that Perranporth is perfectly situated for excursions to Cornwall’s county town, Truro, as well as other popular beach resorts, including Newquay and St Agnes.
