Disabled Holidays in Liskeard with Wheel in Shower, Grab Rails, Ground Floor Facilities and Ceiling Track Hoist

Occupying an enviable position “betwixt moor and sea”, the small town of Liskeard is a great base for exploring both Bodmin Moor and the south Cornwall coast.

Liskeard has a rich heritage as a market and mining hub, a fact evidenced by the many fine Victorian buildings that populate the town centre. One such construction serves as the Liskeard and District Museum, which contains geological and industrial artefacts from the local area, as well as an extensive toy collection. The museum is free to enter and has disabled facilities, including wheelchair access to all floors.

Another standout is Stuart House, a 16th-century town house that takes its name from King Charles I, who stayed here during his Cornish campaign in 1644. The building now acts as a local heritage centre and features arts and crafts sales, a Civil War exhibition and a cafe.

Just a few miles south of Liskeard you’ll find the popular coastal resorts of Looe and Polperro, both of which offer excellent sandy beaches and picture-postcard seafronts. A short drive north will reward you with some of Cornwall’s most ancient monuments. These include Trethevy Quoit (pictured), a well-preserved Neolithic dolmen, and the Hurlers, a line of stone circles believed to date back to the Bronze Age.
