Disabled Pet Friendly Holidays in Canary Islands

Canary Islands fact one: their name derives from the Latin word for dogs rather than the similarly named yellow, chirping birds that others - and other travel companies - seem to espouse. Fact two: Twelve islands in total make up The Canaries, four of which are uninhabited. Canary Islands fact three: The region has some of the greatest biodiversity on the planet, the green forest on La Gomera, for instance, contains species that have become extinct elsewhere. Finally, it’s year round temperate climate and crystal clear inviting waters make it an ideal holiday destination for everyone - and that’s fact four! Find out for yourself with DisabledHolidays.com!

La Gomera has ancient woods, La Palma has lush, tropical forests, El Hierro has volcanic peaks, but the most popular islands in The Canaries are undoubtedly Tenerife, Lanzarote and Gran Canaria. The sands are white and the sea is perfect for paddling, swimming, snorkelling and other, more strenuous activities if you so choose. It’s actually Fuerteventura that has the most beaches of the Canaries, yet wherever you decide to holiday, you won’t be disappointed. The islands are just over four hours away by plane and offer a wealth of things to do, places to eat and places to stay once there. If you want to unwind by a pool, sunbathe all day long, go on excursions or shop until your hearts content, each island has its own unique character, yet an equally broad range of facilities and options. Some islands are smaller than others, some are quieter than others, but a Canary break is both exhilarating and relaxing, and won’t break the bank either!

Generally speaking, the larger the island, the greater and more modern the facilities. This includes transport too. The buses on La Gomera, for instance are not wheelchair accessible, some of the buses on La Palma are, while most of the buses on Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria and Tenerife are accessible. Many of the hotels and other accommodation on the islands are well equipped with a range of facilities including lifts, disabled access and large rooms. We can also help you with arranging flights, hiring equipment and anything else you might need to ensure your stay on these ‘Islands of Eternal Spring’ are as enjoyable as possible.
