Disabled Holidays in Cannes

Cannes in the south of France effortlessly combines glitz and glamour in a holiday destination that is both picturesque and affordable. The film festival takes place each May and, while strolling on the promenade de la Croisette, it’s easy to feel like a film star too. Cannes is also a haven for luxury shopping, with boutique stores plus restaurants and pavement cafes in abundance.

How To Get There

By car / ferry - After disembarking, the journey from Calais to Cannes by road takes approximately thirteen hours. Cost of toll roads is approximately 100 euros.

By train - Take the Eurostar from London to St Pancras International to Paris. Then there’s two train options to Cannes. The fastest, cheapest and most frequent option is to change stations in Paris (from the Gare du nord to the Gare de Lyon) to pick up the TGV duplex train to Nice. The second option, which is longer but easier as it only involves a same station transfer is to take the Eurostar at Lille, change at Lille for the TGV to Nice. Paris to Cannes takes 5 hours while Lille to Cannes takes eight.

By air - The nearest airport is in Nice - Aéroport Nice de Côte d'Azur, with frequent and efficient SNCF trains to Gare de Cannes on rue Jean-Jaurè.

Accessible Attractions - The promenade de la Croisette is wide, flat and accessible as are many of the shops, hotels and restaurants. Parts of the old town however, may be difficult for people with limited mobility to navigate. The beaches on this stretch of the Riviera are accessible, however; some beaches that are specifically for disabled users called ‘Handiplage’ - have facilities including hard ground parking in shaded spots, toilets, showers, changing rooms and specialist vehicles for rolling over sand.

Best Time to Go - Late spring or early autumn. In July and August the prices inflate and the crowds increase. In May, Cannes is heaving due to the International Film Festival.

Type of Accessible  Accommodation - hotels and apartments.
