Disabled Half Board Holiday Homes in Brittany with Visual Aids, Wheelchair Access and Ceiling Track Hoist
With its wealth of varying landscapes, storybook villages and unique rural charm, Brittany offers some of France’s most scenic holiday opportunities.
The region is best known for its dramatic coastline, which boasts a string of wide sandy beaches, picture-postcard ports like St Malo and Dinard, and the iconic Pink Granite coast, where rose-tinted rocks impress in striking natural formations.
Farther inland the scenery transforms into rolling green countryside populated by ancient monuments, such as the Carnac standing stones and Locmariaquer megaliths. The old towns of Dinan and Quimper entice with their colourful half-timbered houses – while here, there and everywhere you’ll come across delightful rustic pubs serving traditional crêpes and locally brewed cider.
Accessible attractions
Many of Brittany’s beaches are accessible to wheelchair users, with ramped access and disabled toilets, as well as beach wheelchairs available for hire.
Some of the region’s best prehistoric sites are also accessible. The Locmariaquer site has a level path around its ancient menhirs and tombs, with Braille guidebooks available at reception. Nearby Carnac, which features more than 10,000 standing stones, is also partly wheelchair accessible and offers Braille guides.
Elsewhere the Océanopolis aquarium in Brest is one of the biggest in Europe and has access for people with mobility, hearing and visual impairments. Further accessible attractions include Bourbansais Park and Gardens, Brocéliande Gardens, and the Tregomeur Zooparc.
