The apartment was designed and built to be comfortable, wheelchair-friendly and ecological. Guests, disabled or not, appreciate the welcoming accommodation immensely, and leave refreshed and revivified. And some people book both the two bedroom apartment and the semi-hidden shepherd's hut so as to house up to 6 guests.

Located with two private off-road parking spaces directly outside, the apartment is level with the entrance, making it easily accessible for adapted vehicles. The hallway features a bench for seating and storage, with plenty of room to hang outdoor gear, plus mats to keep the space clean and dry. A small separate loo, though not wheelchair accessible, accommodates a zimmer frame.

Inside the accommodation

The expansive living area is designed for comfort and ease of movement. Powered wheelchairs can navigate easily between the dining area, desk, and even kitchen appliances. The spacious seating area, with a large sofa and wall-mounted TV, is perfect for families, and the dining table includes room for wheelchairs as well. A wheelchair-friendly desk with retractable power and USB sockets overlooks the kitchen, and USB outlets are available throughout.

The stylish, fully equipped kitchen is a chef’s dream, featuring two ovens, a hob, double sink, under-counter fridge/freezer, separate fridge-freezer, dishwasher, and a butler’s sink with a Quooker tap for instant boiling, chilled, or sparkling water. The kitchen is easy to navigate, with most essentials within arm’s reach, making meal prep a breeze for everyone. There’s also a laundry area with a Miele washing machine, dryer, iron, ironing board, hoover, and a highchair and travel cot for little ones.

Both bedrooms are designed with accessibility in mind, offering private, wheelchair-friendly ensuite bathrooms with wet room floors. Each wet room features low-level basins, push-button flush loos, and handrails for added comfort and safety. The walk-in showers are equipped with both overhead rain showers and hand-held shower heads. Additional features include heated mirrors, towel rails, and a movable commode/shower chair is available on request.

The 'Single' Room

A peaceful retreat overlooking the garden, this spacious room has double doors leading to the patio and features a stylish single bed that adjusts electronically. There’s plenty of space for wheelchair/hoist use, and the room can be converted into a twin room with the addition of a Zed bed upon request.

The Double Room

A very spacious room with two adjustable side-by-side beds, a three-seater sofa, and a desk. The large windows and double doors leading out to the patio create a bright, welcoming space. This room also accommodates a Zed bed if needed. The ensuite features a walk-in shower, bath, and a drying rack for wet clothing.

Outside

The accessible patio is perfect for enjoying the peaceful garden, which is home to birds like goldfinches, pheasants, and firecrests. Enjoy the outdoor furniture made from recycled sea plastics and a large Macrocarpa tree that offers shade in parts of the day. There are two long washing lines for wetsuits and towels, plus an outdoor hot and cold shower to rinse off after a day at the beach or coastal walk.

Sustainability & Energy

The apartment’s underfloor heating and hot water are powered by a Ground Source Heat Pump, and solar panels provide energy for lighting and electrical equipment. Two natural solar lights illuminate the dining area.
