Description
This five-star North Wales holiday cottage is situated on a scenic working farm in a beautiful location on the Llyn Peninsula, just half a mile from the beach.
A former barn, the cottage has been renovated to the highest standard and is packed with original features, including exposed wooden beams, a flagstone floor and exposed stone walls.
The cottage is just over half a mile away from the three-mile golden Porth Neigwl beach, popular with surfers, and Abersoch (3 miles), which is well known for water sports activities. Several other sandy beaches, coves and rock pools are also within a few miles of the cottage.
The Llyn Peninsula, where the Welsh language and way of life still flourish, is renowned for its beautiful beaches and water sports. With nearly 100 miles of stunning coastline, an array of hills of varying height inland plus the majestic mountains of Snowdonia on your doorstep, it’s also a great place to come for a walking holiday.
Take a boat trip to Bardsey Island, a former site of religious pilgrimage, try your hand at fishing, horse-riding or golf; or enjoy go-karting, ten-pin bowling, archery etc. at Glasfryn Parc. Plas Glyn-y-Weddw, a magnificent manor with galleries, beautiful gardens and tea room with sea views, is well worth a visit, whilst Ffestiniog Railway, castles and the Italian village of Portmeirion are all nearby.
The picturesque village of Llangian with post office/shop and a 6th-century church lies a mile away. Llanengan village, one and a half miles away, has a fine medieval church and a country pub (delicious grub!)
Room specifications
Ground floor
The ground floor has a double bedroom suitable for a wheelchair user. The room has an electrical 5' adjustable bed, with back and legs raising, and furniture legs raisers for hoist legs. There is also a wet-room-style shower room including grab rails and a low-level wash hand basin, as well as a shower/commode chair on wheels with flexible arms.
The front access and rear to this cottage is level and suitable for the less mobile, including wheelchair users. It opens directly into a spacious open-plan lounge/dining/kitchen area.
Part of the original slate flagstone floor has been relaid in the kitchen/dining area and some walls have been retained as exposed stone, all adding to the warmth and character of the accommodation. Its large front opening is now fully glazed and gives wonderful views of the countryside and a spacious airy atmosphere to the cottage. The ground floor has the benefit of underfloor heating.
The kitchen is fully equipped with high-quality appliances and a comprehensive range of cutlery and glasses. The five-star quality is continued in the lounge area. Large comfortable leather sofas and soft cushions all add to the home-from-home ambience. There is a new plasma TV wall-mounted, DVD, CD/radio.
Upstairs
A beautiful staircase, crafted by a local carpenter, leads up to a gallery-style first floor area with two bedrooms that has a pitched ceiling and two Velux windows that afford a wonderful view of the countryside. One bedroom has an antique double bed with canopy and en-suite; the second bedroom has three single cream iron bedsteads. The main bathroom is also on this floor with a Jacuzzi bath.
Garden
A large double back door leads out onto a patio area with garden furniture and barbecue. Ideal for admiring the views or to simply sit and relax with a glass of wine in the evening. Shared indoor games room on site with table tennis, snooker and football table game.
