Disabled Holidays in Northern Ireland

Giant's Causeway, Northern Ireland

Verdant glens, rugged mountains, peaceful lakes, stunning natural rock formations and award-winning beaches – Northern Ireland packs a wide range of sceneries into its relatively small landmass.

Despite being just a fifth of the size of its southern neighbour, it boasts a great diversity of attractions as well some of the UK’s most magical backdrops.

The northern coast is home to the world-famous Giant’s Causeway, whose towering basalt columns have inspired many a myth and legend, along with numerous artists and countless visitors.

To the east you’ll find the Glens of Antrim, a peaceful region of rolling hills and valleys, tumbling waterfalls and rich woodland, while in the south there’s the dramatic Mountains of Mourne, immortalised in Irish folk song for their twelve shapely summits peppered with lakes, granite tors and incredible views.

The 200-mile coastline contains some incredible beaches, many with disabled access, such as the seven-mile Benone (with its beach surfboards and wheelchairs) and the majestic Portstewart Strand, where visitors can park their cars on the sands.

Not to be outdone, the capital Belfast offers a vibrant cultural scene characterised by exciting modern restaurants and upcoming musical acts, as well as numerous fascinating attractions like the accessible Titanic Belfast museum.

In recent years, Northern Ireland has welcomed a new wave of tourists thanks to serving as a key setting for the hit TV series Game of Thrones. Fans of the show can enjoy a wide selection of guided tours and interactive experiences in some of the most iconic filming locations.
