Airport Mobility Assistance

Wheelchair airport assistance

What if I have a disability or a medical condition?

DisabledHolidays.com will endeavour to meet the requirements of passengers with any disabilities, provided they notify us of their requirements at the time of making the booking. These details must be disclosed to our Sales Support Advisors when booking your holiday. DisabledHolidays.com will liaise with your chosen airline to ensure all your assistance needs are met.

How can I ensure I will get the mobility assistance I need?

Level of assistance

Subject to prior booking, we will arrange with the airline for mobility assistance – right from the check-in desk to the baggage reclaim area at the destination airport. Sometimes the level of assistance is limited to that which the airport is able to provide. We do not provide mobility assistance ourselves but rely on specialist third parties, often appointed by the airport authorities, so it’s important that we know your requirements as early as possible. Assistance from the car park to the check-in desk, or from the baggage reclaim area to the car park, should be booked directly with the airport concerned.

Booking methods for mobility assistance

Please contact our Sales Support Advisors on 0161 260 2218.

Carriage of wheelchairs and mobility aids

In addition to a free-of-charge baggage allowance, we can request that the airline carry free of charge in the aircraft hold: one lightweight, foldable manual wheelchair per passenger. Restrictions apply, therefore you will need to apply in advance by contacting our Sales Support Advisors on 0161 260 2218. Please ensure you have checked suitability of your chosen accommodation for wheelchair access.

Flight check-in

For all flights, passengers are required to check in a minimum of two hours prior to the scheduled departure time of the flight to ensure you receive the pre-booked assistance and are taken to the aircraft in plenty of time.

Am I fit to fly and fit to travel?

It is your responsibility to be reasonably satisfied that you are medically fit to fly and to travel and/or that all precautions recommended by your doctor are taken before, during and after your holiday. If in doubt, we recommend professional medical advice be sought before booking. It is of course in your interests to ensure you notify your travel insurer about any pre-existing medical conditions.
