Description
*** Fully booked from 2nd March 2024 - 9th November 2024 ***
Perfect for sunbathing on the terrace or curling up in front of the wood burner, this accessible bungalow with panoramic sea views is a wonderful getaway for all the seasons.
The bungalow is within walking distance of Dawlish and has spectacular uninterrupted sea views. These can be enjoyed from the lounge/conservatory, or from the large paved terrace. One of the spacious bedrooms has an en-suite shower room, and there is an easily accessible wheel-in wet room which serves the rest of the property. The bungalow has level access to all areas, and there are various items of mobility equipment for use (please ask for details).
The bungalow is set back on the Exeter Road between Dawlish and Dawlish Warren. There is ample parking for two large vehicles, and additional parking in the public lay-by just yards away. The property has a reasonably sized porch, large enough for a wheelchair, and hanging space for coats. The porch opens onto a spacious hallway via a sliding door, which leads to the rest of the bungalow.
The first bedroom on your left has bunk beds, with two full-size single mattresses. Opposite is a twin room which contains the hospital bed and the ceiling track hoist. The spacious wet room has non-slip flooring. The hallway then narrows and a further en-suite double bedroom leads off.
The kitchen is also accessed from this hallway, and eventually the hallway opens into a large lounge/conservatory. These two rooms can be either opened up as one room or closed off in the winter, when you might want to have a cosy night around the log-burning stove. You may even wish to use the lounge as a fourth bedroom. There is comfortable seating for up to eight guests, and further dining facilities also for eight. There is a large terrace with panoramic views and various items of garden furniture for use by guests.
Room specifications
There is smooth, level access throughout the property, and disabled doors to one of the bedrooms, the wet room and into the lounge. The kitchen has a large opening off the hall. Please note that although the kitchen can be accessed easily by a wheelchair, the units are standard for use by an able-bodied person.
There is a fixed ceiling track hoist in the bedroom, and a further mobile hoist for use in the lounge, so that you can transfer into the riser recliner chair (please bring your own sling). The accessible bedroom contains twin beds, one of which is a fully functioning hospital bed with both profiling ability and height adjustment for care. In addition this bed can have an airflow mattress fitted (available) or bed rails (available).
For bathing there is a large wheel-in wet room, thematically controlled shower and a 1.5m hose. There is a choice of mobility aids: a shower stool, a shower commode or a tilt-in-space shower commode with bed pan.
The terrace at the rear of the property can be accessed through the sliding door, down a shallow ramp, and is fully paved.
The owners can also put you in touch with a trusted local care agency, who can help with washing and dressing.
