Description
Located on a peaceful farm in the scenic Belgian countryside, this disabled-friendly ground floor apartment has been delightfully converted from part of an old farmhouse. The farm is over 200 years old and is situated in the most quiet, beautiful and natural region of the country: De Voerstreek, also known as the “Tuscany of Belgium”.
The property has been re-designed, re-built and decorated according to Belgian standards and guidelines for disabled guests. The accommodation has three beds (two profiling beds in the bedroom and one electric sofa bed in the living room), but it is easily combined with two lovely studios on the first floor, one for four guests and one for five, sleeping 12 in total.
The owners live alongside the accommodation and are happy to assist guests, including transport (at a cost). Professional care can also be provided from a local company.
The cultural cities of Maastricht, Aachen and Liege can be found just over 20 km away and are full of wonderful attractions, making this a great base for relaxing in the countryside and visiting the sights.
Room specifications
Bedroom
The bedroom has two fully adjustable electric profiling beds. Both beds have bed rails that run the beds’ full length and can be lowered and raised. There is an additional electric bed in the living room.
Kitchen
Both the touch oven and the sink have 700 mm space underneath and are 900 mm high. The kitchen has a combi-microwave, fridge, dishwasher, kettle, coffee machine, toaster and all necessary equipment, all at easy reach for wheelchair users. The sink has a one-handle water-tap with an additional flexible ‘shower head’.
An extensive organic continental breakfast can be provided for €12.50 pp.
Outside areas / garden
The farm has several organic gardens: a vegetable garden, herb garden, fruit garden, an orchard and an ornamental garden. In the vegetable garden and the herb garden, guests will find garden chairs and a table. The farm is also home to sheep, chickens and two nice dogs. The apartment has its own terrace with a table, chairs and a parasol.

The accommodation is situated between several large cities with lots of accessible attractions and restaurants: Maastricht in the Netherlands, Aachen in Germany and Liege in Belgium. The award-winning Zoo of Belgium is 23 km away, as are Luxembourg and the Netherlands. The beautiful Belgian Ardennes the German Eifel hills are roughly 25 km away.
For all everyday conveniences, the nearby village of Aubel (4 km) provides several supermarkets, banks and restaurants.
Airports: Maastricht-Aachen airport is only 35 km away, Brussels Airport 120 km, Düsseldorf Airport (Germany) 100 km, Eindhoven Airport (the Netherlands) 120 km.
Train stations: Wezet/Vise (B): 20 km, Maastricht (NL): 25 km, Aachen (D): 23 km.
Adapted transport can be arranged with a local taxi company, who are specialised in transportation of disabled persons with or without wheelchairs. The owners can also transport guests in their non-adapted car at a reasonable rate.
