Description
This is a flagship 4* Quality in Tourism Rated easy access cottage, the ideal base for a family holiday, offering up-to-date and regularly reviewed facilities for wheelchair users, older persons, persons with a visual or hearing impairment or persons with a learning disability or memory-related disability.
At this countryside cottage you’ll find all the comforts of home, away from home. You’ll be ideally placed to enjoy coast and countryside alike. There are spectacular views with peace and quiet... you’ll leave wanting more!
The cottage includes a ground floor bedroom with twin beds, one of which is an electric fully profiling bed. Floors all through are wood laminate for ease of wheel travel of chairs or hoists. The ground floor wet room bathroom has a hygienic non-slip hospital quality surface there is a choice of shower seating for your individual needs. Within the shower area are strategically situated grab rails, the toilet also has a folding grab rail on the left (when seated). The homely open-plan lounge/dining/kitchen area has a log-burning stove. There is gas central heating throughout.
The cottage looks onto a sheltered garden with level seating area which is designed to provide a rewarding sensory experience for all. Beyond this are fields where you may catch a glimpse of Melody and Mary the resident horses, who on request can be brought to the garden gate to meet our guests. There is a Parker Knoll chair on the ground floor which can be moved into either room you require.
These are just a few of the additional facilities we can provide to make your holiday as care free as possible. For any further requirements please do not hesitate to contact us for an informal chat with Jayne the resident former healthcare professional (RMHN). She is also able to offer some respite care or activity and can be booked for a day or an afternoon (at extra cost) to enable family members to have some time off from their caring duties. Each of the first floor bedrooms (1 twin and 1 King) has ensuite facilities making it ideal for carers. Both our cottages are owner serviced giving you peace of mind that they will be hygienically clean on your arrival. Owners live on site.
The surrounding area is rich in history, and the countryside and coastline are dotted with tiny villages and hamlets, each with unique “hidden gems” of shops, pubs and tea rooms and other attractions. The owners have good local knowledge and you can pick their brains as to what to see and do. They also have links with the local disability action group, and one of the owners is a retired nurse who specialised in dementia care. She can be booked in advance to provide respite care for part days, if required.
