The cottage features step-free access with a fully adapted ground floor layout designed for ease and comfort. The twin bedroom on the ground floor includes a two-way ceiling tracking hoist covering the bed, along with access to a shared, non-slip wet room with a wheel-in shower. Wide doorways and carefully considered layouts support effortless movement throughout the main living areas.

While the ground floor is fully accessible, please note that some areas—including standard bedrooms and additional bathroom facilities—are accessed via steps, and the first floor is reached by stairs. Manual doors are present throughout the property.

Thoughtful Equipment & Support
A wide range of mobility and support equipment is available to hire or borrow, including portable hoists, shower chairs, commodes, standing aids, and raised toilet seats. Additional specialist equipment—such as bariatric and tilting shower chairs, stand aids, and transfer supports—can also be arranged, ensuring every guest’s needs are met with care and flexibility.

The inviting living area offers a cosy space to unwind, complete with an electric riser recliner chair and views over the peaceful garden. Each bedroom is designed with comfort in mind, with the accessible ground floor twin room tailored specifically for guests with mobility needs. Please note that adapted bedrooms do not have adjoining rooms.

Whitby is the perfect location for exploring and enjoying the North York Moors National Park. Whitby itself is a 17 century whaling station, famous for its connection to Captain Cook and his ship the Endeavour. Many of the original buildings date back to that time and there are lots of independent shops and restaurants to visit. The Abbey itself is 2 miles down the lane from the farm the cottage is located on. The North York Moors National Park is spectacular with its rolling hills and valleys covered in heather and sheep! There are lots of places to visit including the North Yorkshire Moors Railway in Pickering, Robin Hood’s Bay (just a few miles South of Summerfield), Hutton le Hole, Rosedale and Helmsley. The Farm offers comfortable accommodation for you and your family.
