Accessible City Centre hotel in Amsterdam

Right next to the central station and in the historic city centre, visitors will find this impressive hotel. With a modern architectural design, it’s characterised by its transparency and versatility.

Large floor-to-ceiling windows are featured in each guest room, meeting room and all bars and restaurants within the hotel, providing plenty of daylight and impressive views of the city. The many outdoor areas such as waterfront terraces, the courtyard and private roof terraces ensure that every guest can enjoy the serenity of the city from the tranquillity of the hotel.

The rooms and suites feature a variety of facilities to provide a comfortable stay, such as individually controlled air conditioning and a miniature fridge. Free high-speed Internet access and WiFi are also available throughout. The hotel’s main breakfast and lunch restaurant offers an international fare with local flavour.

Accessibility details
There are no steps or changes in level between the main hotel entrance, reception and guest elevator lobby.
The hotel has five guest elevators:
Four elevators measure approximately 198.5 cm wide x 169.5 cm deep internally and operate between the basement and 11th floor.
One elevator measures approximately 139.5 cm wide x 199.5 cm deep and operates between the basement and 8th floor.
Elevator door openings are approximately 100 cm wide.
The main automatic revolving entrance provides an opening of approximately 1.7 metres.
The restaurant entrance has two automatic doors with an opening of approximately 1.46 metres, while the secondary manually operated emergency exit doors are approximately 110 cm wide.
Hotel corridors are approximately 125 cm wide, with the narrowest point at the automatic fire doors being approximately 102 cm. The fire doors at the lift landing provide approximately 1.7 metres of width.

Powered wheelchair: The main hotel entrance, lobby, elevators, restaurant, Lobby Bar, LuminAir Rooftop Bar, meeting facilities and guest floors are wheelchair accessible.

A powered wheelchair may be kept in the guest room.
There are no steps between the main entrance, reception and elevator route. As mentioned above, there is, however, a small bathroom threshold of approximately 1.2 cm, and certain external terraces/courtyard areas have raised thresholds.
The hotel courtyard and some terraces also have raised thresholds and should not be considered fully accessible by powered wheelchair.

Accessible rooms feature queen sized beds and en suite wheel-in bathrooms adapted for guests with mobility requirements. The bathrooms have both a wheel-in shower with wall-mounted seat and a bathtub with grab rails.

Each of the rooms is appointed with air conditioning and central heating. A safe, a minibar and a desk are also available. Additional features include a fridge and a tea/coffee station. An ironing set, hairdryer and bathrobes are also available for guests’ convenience. Little extras, including internet access, a telephone, a TV, a radio and WiFi, contribute to a great stay.

Accessible Rooms & Facilities

Profiling Beds

Some guest rooms feature profiling beds. Please note that these are not hospital beds and do not have side rails. The mattresses provided are suitable for the profiling beds but are not hospital-style mattresses.

Accessible Guest Rooms

Accessible rooms are located between the 3rd and 11th floors and are available with either city-facing or river-facing views, subject to room allocation.

Some accessible rooms have an interconnecting room. Please note that the interconnecting accessible rooms are river-facing and connect only to a King or King Superior room. They do not interconnect with a Twin room.

Guest bedroom doors have a minimum width of approximately 81 cm, while accessible bathroom doors have a minimum width of approximately 100 cm.

Accessible Bedroom

Depending on the final room allocation, accessible rooms are approximately:

• F1 Accessible Room: 28.85 m² – city-facing
• F2A Accessible Room: 30.88 m² – river-facing

The accessible rooms have widened circulation areas and are designed to accommodate wheelchair users.

The internal route from the bedroom towards the bathroom is approximately 134 cm wide.

There is a small threshold of approximately 1.2 cm at the entrance to the bathroom. Depending on the type and configuration of the powered wheelchair being used, this may require some assistance.

Accessible Bathroom

The toilet measures approximately 54 cm long × 37 cm wide × 50 cm high.

In the river-facing accessible room, the toilet is positioned approximately 35 cm from the wall. Movable grab rails are provided on both sides of the toilet.

A vertical grab rail is also provided beside the shower seat, with an additional vertical grab rail along the bath wall.

The clearance between the sink and the wall is approximately 25 cm at its narrowest point, increasing to approximately 33 cm at the wider point.

As room layouts and individual wheelchair requirements can vary, please disuss with an agent before making a booking.

Electrical Supply & Wheelchair Charging

The accessible guest rooms have approximately seven electrical sockets, located as follows:

• One socket close to the bathroom sink
• One socket on each side of the bed, above the bedside tables
• Two sockets close to the coffee station
• Two sockets behind the in-room table

Guests are kindly asked not to overload electrical sockets by connecting multiple extension leads or multi-plug adaptors.

Medication & Refrigeration

Medication or care supplies that require cool storage may potentially be stored either in the in-room minibar or with the assistance of our Concierge team.

If your medication requires storage within a specific controlled temperature range, please provide these requirements to us in advance. We will then confirm whether the refrigeration facilities available are suitable for your medication.

Please do not assume that a minibar or other refrigeration facility is suitable for temperature-sensitive medication until this has been confirmed by the hotel.
