Area information
Located in a broadleaf wooded valley in a beautiful part of the East Devon countryside on a site that is so old it is in the Doomsday book. The surrounding area is designated as an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and Rockenhayne’s mile-long track means that a stay here really feels like you’re getting away from it all and immersing yourself in nature. At the same time the property is within a 10-minute drive of the sea, a number of charming villages and plenty of local attractions and activities.
Rockenhayne offers you the opportunity to slow down. Put your feet in the stream, wander in the woods, breathe deeply. Listen to birds when you wake, look for butterflies in the hazy afternoon and watch badgers and bats in the dusk. At night take advantage of the darkness and rediscover the joy of stargazing. Your hosts provide you with wellies to borrow and maps and picnic kits in each cottage. Each cottage also has a barbeque and a set of outdoor furniture.
If you fancy more of an action-packed break, there are so many activities to do in the surrounding area that you’ll struggle choosing what to cram in!
Please note that the property is set on a working farm, so while the owners want you to enjoy the countryside please stay clear of hazardous areas, shut gates and ensure children are supervised at all times.
