Description
The building was originally a monastery founded back in 1678. In 1870 it became the property of a number of Republican families until it was bought and converted into a hotel in 1982. It is a yellow and terracotta stone building. The hotels is formed by various blocks each holding several rooms and there are extensive grounds which belong to the hotel with gardens, shrubbery and flowers with a couple of LamasThe hotel is in its own two hectres of grounds and has its own small museum of antique Inca pieces, a gift shop, chapel and pond/fountain area. The space, views and nature that surround the hotel are exceptional and the hotel and services are all of good superior tourist standard. Situated in the heart of the Sacred Valley in Yucay just one kilometre from Urubamba. It is about forty five minutes by car from Cusco and being one thousand metres lower in altitude, the climate is more agreeable. It is an ideal place to get used to the altitude and a convenient base for visiting the villages of Pisac, Ollantaytambo and other nearby archaeological and cultural places of interest. There are views on both sides of the surrounding hills and it is situated close to the river
Three quaters of the rooms are large in size with the remainder being medium in size. All are traditional in style and in good condition with wood pannelling and flooring throughout.
