Pre-Holiday Skipper Training
We want to ensure that you enjoy your canal boat holiday, however experience of operating broad beam canal boats is necessary prior to taking a group on board.
We require nominated skipper(s) to attend a Pre Trip Training Day that will give them the boating basics – the essential knowledge and techniques that they will need to make sure you all enjoy yourselves and stay safe.
One of our Pre Trip Training Skippers will contact you once we have received your signed booking and training forms to discuss this with you in greater detail.
Skippers with previous experience will be accompanied a short way by our Pre Trip Training Skipper at the start of their holiday and will provide additional training if necessary.
Where to go and what to see
Your boating holiday or day trip will take you through charming villages and the pretty Hertfordshire countryside, full of wildlife and lovely places to tie up and relax.
One day’s travelling north is the town of Bishop’s Stortford, whilst downstream you reach Ware or Hertford, both steeped in history but with modern shops, facilities and visitor attractions.
Lee Valley Country Park, an RSPB nature reserve and the Enfield Gun Powder Mills museum provide just some of the many opportunities to break your journey.
Or just cruise slowly along the waterway and enjoy the tranquillity. Carry on towards Stratford and the Olympic site, and finally into East London in only 3 days of relaxed cruising. Here the canal passes through London Zoo, and moorings allow easy access to the many London attractions.
A £500 security deposit in the form of a post dated cheque, debit card or credit card payment is also required. Any refund of this will be made after the return of the boat.
