One of the island’s most popular attractions, Osborne House and Gardens, Queen Victoria’s favourite former residence, is within easy reach via the floating bridge from West Cowes to East Cowes. There are many beaches (sandy or shingle) to explore as well as the breathtaking coastal scenery around the island. For family entertainment, visit Carisbrooke Castle, various wildlife centres, adventure parks, bird and donkey sanctuary, the amazing rock formations of The Needles, many NT Homes, Calbourne Water Mill, traditional island pottery making, glass blowing, lilac and garlic farms, as well as many tea rooms in the pretty quaint villages on the island. Overlooking Thorness Bay the Cottage extends across a wildlife pond. The Heritage Coastline, 150 yards away, offers excellent walking, whilst reed beds make for ideal bird watching. Cowes is great for sailing, whilst the island, renowned for its temperate climate has much to suit all tastes. Shop 4 miles, pub 2 miles.Information last updated: 29/11/2022 12:04:46
