Description
Long term lets only for September - October (4 weeks +)
If you're looking for a relaxed English holiday in a rural location, then this is the property for you!
This luxury log cabin has been designed to be as much fun to live in as possible at any time of year, and in any weather.
If the weather's good, you can explore during the day, and come back for a glass of wine around the firepit by the river. If it's warm and wet, you can open the folding doors onto the meadow, and sit outside for meals under the huge overhanging roof. If it's cold, wet, and generally uninspiring, you could spend the morning gathering fresh ingredients in Ludlow, have a cooking competition in the afternoon, and feast in the evening in front of the 11KW wood pellet stove. Or if you don't want to cook, you could investigate the area's great choice of restaurants!
The cabin has been constructed with the aim of minimising impact on the environment, both during the building process, and over its lifetime, using Douglas Fir logs grown in Mid-Wales. If you're interested in reducing the CO2 emissions of your own home, a holiday here may give you some ideas, and enable you to try out technologies such as the wood-pellet stove, solar water-heating, an induction hob and LED/low energy lighting.
We have also incorporated disabled facilities into the design, including level access throughout, a wet room, and extra wide doors.
Limited fishing is available at no extra charge - there is approximately 200 yards of unstocked water.
Mid-week stays and short breaks are also available - call to enquire 0161 260 2218.
Room specifications
The property sleeps 4, in a double bedroom and a twin and there is also a double sofabed in the living area (please note the living area has some high level areas of glass which have no means of excluding light. Also, in colder weather, it's necessary to keep the woodpellet stove lit overnight, so there's flickering light and some noise in the living area, which may affect light sleepers on the sofabed).
Kitchen facilities include an induction hob, single fan oven, washing machine, dishwasher, and microwave. All electrical appliances have been chosen with low energy consumption as the overriding consideration. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking - one of the attractions of Ludlow is its great choice of fresh, local food, so if you like to cook, we want to encourage you.
Living room facilities include a TV, with a home cinema that plays DVDs and CDs. The acoustics of the living area are lively, so bring CDs! There are also a selection of books, games and DVDs.
The cabin is set in a field surrounded on two sides by a river, and there are several features that connect it to the outdoors, including a wide folding door on the south side, and a large covered sitting area on the west side. All exterior doors have large amounts of glass in them, so you should see and hear the local wildlife.
The cabin is a no smoking environment. Towels can be provided on request at no extra charge. Outdoors, the cabin has a two-acre field to itself, bounded on one side by a river.
