What is in the area
San Felice del Benaco
Located between the Gulf of Salò and Manerba’s famous Rocca, on a green hilly headland, offering an enjoyable and enchanting view/landscape. San Felice, in addition to its monuments and places of cultural interest, offers various recreational opportunities in nature. Amongst olive groves and vineyards, guests will find a shared pedestrian-cycle route overlooking the lake, hiking and horse riding trails in the hills, golf courses, together with the opportunity of visiting the beautiful Island of Garda. The name “San Felice” del Benaco is derived from the latin words “sinux felix”, which mean “happy creek”. San Felice del Benaco is furthermore divided into San Felice, Portese and Cisano. San Felice’s parish baroque church is worthy of mentioning on account of its valuable pieces of art, such as Romanino’s apsidal paintings. San Felice is also the home of two ancient palaces: Palazzo ex Monte di Pietà, a 17th century building now used as a cultural venue, and Palazzo Rotingo, which, while still containing some of the original furniture of its first owner, the Rotingo family, is now the town hall. Aside from the quaint old town, our guests will find other ancient places to visit: the parish church of saints Felice, Adauto and Flavia (the patrons of the village), which offers a number of valuable works of art from the 18th century, and the sanctuary of Madonna del Carmine, built in the 15th century, with interns frescoed by the masters of both the Venetian and Lombard schools. The remains of the ancient castle, now used as a cemetery and ossuary, are located on a headland overlooking Lake Garda and to this day preserve various works of art.
Portese
Renown for its fishing tradition, Portese is a small village with a quaint marina and restaurants whose culinary tradition related to fish are to this day maintained.
Cisano
With its square bounded by the 17th century Palace Brunati and by the 18th century Palace Cominelli, now seat of the Cominelli Foundation which promotes various cultural activities, Cisano is a small yet picturesque rural village which was recently gracefully restored.
Valtenesi
Valtenesi is located on Brescia’s side of Lake Garda: in-between the Gulf of Salò and Padenghe, Valtenesi consists of a set of hills sloping down to the lake. Unique features such as a beautiful scenery, sunny beaches and the deep blue seawater, combined with lands rich with olive groves and vineyards interspersed by ancient villages, villas, towers, medieval castles and churches are what makes Valtenesi an area of high tourist interest.
